(T.Q., 2:155-157) The Syrian Ministry of Waqf, the Supreme Council of Fatwa, The Muslim Scholars, Sheikhs and Clerics, the International Islamic Organizations, Councils and Foundations, the Sheikh Ahmad Kuftaro Foundation and the Kuftaro family members, With great regret and sorrow announce the passing away of: H.E. Sheikh Ahmad Kuftaro The Grand Mufti of Syria, the Head of the Supreme Council of Fatwa on Wednesday Rajab 17th 1425 AH/September 1st 2004 AD. We pray Almighty Allah to have mercy on his soul and admit him in the highest ranks in Paradise. The funeral prayer took place after the Zuhr prayer at 1.30 p.m. in the Omayyad Mosque. The procession moved to the Maisat square near the Syrian Ministry of Waqf, then to his last resting place in Abunour mosque.
